Life Group "Frequently Asked Questions"
1. Life Groups, what are they?
Life Groups are small groups of approximately 6-8 married couples or 8-10 individuals of the same gender that meet together at least twice a month for fellowship, Bible study, and prayer. They are for adults of all ages, stages of life, and spiritual maturity.
2. What kinds of Life Groups are there?
There are Life Groups for Couples, Men, and Women. The couples groups also welcome singles unless they are studying a marriage specific curriculum. The men's and women's groups are same sex only.
3. Are there Co-Ed groups?
Only the Married Couples groups have both men and women involved.
4. Is Childcare provided for each group meeting?
Groups establish their own arrangements for childcare. Each group decides together what arrangements they will make for childcare when the group is first formed at a Connection Night.
5. When and where do groups meet?
Groups mostly meet in homes. Some groups choose to meet in restaurants or coffeehouses as well. Each group decides when and where they will meet when the group is first formed at a Connection Night Event.
6. How often do Life Groups meet?
Groups meet at least twice a month, and most groups meet every week. The frequency of meetings is determined by the group itself when it is first formed at Connection Night.
7. How long does a Life Group last?
Life Groups operate on a semester system which is approximately 13 weeks. The fall semester begins in September and runs through mid-December. The spring semester begins in January and runs through May. Our life groups generally take a break during the summer months, but each group is able to decide if they would like to continue to meet during this time.
8. How long does each group meeting last?
Each Life Group picks the length of time they will meet. However, most groups meet for an hour and a half to two hours.
9. What goes on at a group meeting?
Our life group non-negotiables are some time of fellowship, time in God's Word (may occur through a variety of curriculum, videos, etc) and a time of prayer. Outside of that, the groups vary some based on the leaders, members and meeting place.
10. What do they study?
Groups vary in the material they study. Many groups follow along with the current sermon series using sermon-based discussion questions, while others may choose a topic-driven or dvd-based curriculum.
11. How do I join a Life Group?
Most groups are formed during Connection Night Events that happen 2 times a year.
